Year 9 students of Bishop David Brown School in Woking, Surrey, recently took part in Dragons’ Den-style pitches, showcasing innovative ideas for products and businesses and the potential of the next generation of entrepreneurs!
They were to pitch their ideas to Assistant Head Teacher, Chris Edwards, and the Head of Business and Enterprise, Mick Matharu:
With their colourful ties, these ‘Dragons’ were a little less scary than Bannatyne & co., thankfully!
The students had some great and innovative ideas…
They pitched their ideas and answered the Dragons’ questions enthusiastically…
… and they learnt a great deal about what makes an impressive pitch. As well as coming up with a good product, they needed to be able to explain it well and use their maths skills to work out financial issues for a viable business plan.
The teachers and students voted for their favourite idea of the day to win a prize offered by Dream Idea.
The winning pitch was for the ‘Frooker’ – a freezer/fridge/cooker combination with a touchscreen interface allowing people to store their food which can later be cooked and placed on a plate all at the touch of a button!
